BrahmaputraBrahmaputra, one of the mighty rivers of the world has its origin in the sacred mountains of Mansarovar, Called theTsangpo in Tibet it runs through the high Tibetian plateau before taking a south ward turn to enter the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh as the Siang.Here it gushes through an intricate gorge flanked by snow capped peaks, verdant hills and terraced fields of paddy. Sometimes placid, sometimes raging with eddies, whirlpools, fall and rapids it breaks from the hills at Pasighat and is joined by the Dibang and the Lohit to form the Brahmaputra - the only large male river in Indian mythology. The mighty river continues its journey through the plains of Assam, merging with the Ganges in Bangladesh to form the Sunderbans, the largest delta in the world.
